Diansheng GuoI am an Associate Professor at the Department of Geography, University of South Carolina (2004-present). I received my B.S. degree from Peking University (1996), an M.S. degree from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (1999), and hold a Ph.D in Geography from the Pennsylvania State University (2003).

My research specialization is geographical information science, with an emphasis on spatial data mining and information visualization. We are facing increasingly large geographic datasets collected in various subject domains such as population census, remote sensing, climatology, business, public health, and transportation. Traditional data analysis methods have limited capability to extract from the data meaningful and useful knowledge. My research focuses on the development of new methodologies to synthesize large and complex datasets; detect the expected and discover the unexpected from data; and communicate the findings effectively for problem solving and decision making.

Welcome Message to Prospective Graduate Students
I am always looking for excellent graduate students in the area of GIScience, spatial data mining, visualization, and their application domains. >>>More details...
